Shramik Chattar ("the App", "we", "us", "our") is developed and operated by the Labour Directorate, Government of Tripura, for the registration and welfare management of construction workers under the Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) Act. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use the Shramik Chattar mobile application and associated web services.

By registering on or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information to provide worker registration, job matching, and welfare scheme services:

• Identity information: Full name, age, gender, date of birth
• Contact information: Mobile phone number, email address (optional)
• Government identifiers: eShram ID, BOCW registration number (where applicable)
• Location information: District, state, and address details (plot/street/village, post office, PIN code) for worker registration and job matching purposes
• Employment information: Skills, work experience, work history, employer details, job applications, and job postings (for employers)
• Educational information: Education level, institution name, passing year, and uploaded certificates
• Documents and photos: Profile photograph, identity document uploads (e.g., ID proof for verification)
• Authentication data: One-Time Password (OTP) sent to your mobile number for verification during registration and login; encrypted password for account access
• Device and usage information: Basic technical information such as app version and device type, used for troubleshooting and support

2. How We Use Your Information

• To register and verify your identity as a worker or employer under the BOCW welfare scheme
• To match workers with relevant job opportunities and enable employers to review worker profiles
• To send OTPs and account-related notifications via SMS
• To display welfare schemes and benefits relevant to your registered profile
• To enable communication between registered workers and employers (chat/messaging features)
• To respond to support requests and resolve technical issues
• To comply with applicable labour welfare laws and government reporting requirements

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. Your information may be shared only in the following circumstances:

• With employers on the platform: Basic profile details (name, contact number, skills, experience) are visible to employers when you apply for or are matched with job postings
• With SMS gateway service providers: Your mobile number is shared with our authorized SMS service provider solely for the purpose of delivering OTP messages
• With government departments: Aggregated or specific worker data may be shared with the Labour Directorate, Government of Tripura, and other relevant government authorities for welfare scheme administration and statutory compliance
• As required by law: If required by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or government request

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers managed by the Tripura State Data Centre (TSDC). We implement reasonable technical and organizational security measures, including encrypted password storage and secure data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. While we strive to protect your data, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account remains active or as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this policy, and as required to comply with applicable government record-keeping obligations under labour welfare regulations.

6. Your Rights and Choices

• You may access and update your profile information at any time through the App
• You may request correction of inaccurate information by contacting support
• You may request deletion of your account and associated data, subject to statutory retention requirements applicable to government welfare records
• You may withdraw consent for optional data (such as email address) at any time

7. Location Services

The App may use location-based mapping services (such as MapMyIndia) to assist with address entry and job/worker location matching. Location data is used only for these functional purposes and is not used for tracking or advertising.

8. Children's Privacy

Shramik Chattar is intended for use by adult workers and employers only, in accordance with the minimum working age requirements under Indian labour law. We do not knowingly collect information from individuals under the age of 18.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
